Textor Invests R$268M in Botafogo: Details

Botafogo should receive, in the coming days, a considerable contribution to try to solve its financial problems. John Textor, owner of the black and white SAF, signaled that he will make a contribution of 50 million dollars (approximately R$268.6 million) to the club’s coffers. The American businessman will have the “support” of two investors. The names were kept confidential.

The expectation is that part of the total amount, which should be 20 million dollars (around R$ 107 million), will be deposited in the black and white coffers by next Friday. The other 30 million dollars (R$161 million) would be transferred to the club by the end of the month.

In parallel, Botafogo advanced in negotiations with Atlanta United to settle the payment of the debt of 21 million dollars for the purchase of Thiago Almada, completed in July 2024. Both behind the scenes at the black and white team, and in the United States, the information is that the clubs are close to an agreement.

A portion of the amount to be deposited by John Textor and the two investors must be allocated to payment to Atlanta United. Most likely, Botafogo will pay in installments. The terms of the negotiations have not been revealed so far.

The information about the contribution to be received by Botafogo was initially given by journalist Matheus Medeiros.
