After a shocking moment: Barça sports director comments on Ter Stegen
Barça’s sports director Deco comments on DFB goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen before the Supercup semi-final. His statements should reassure the German fans somewhat.
According to FC Barcelona sporting director Deco, Marc-André ter Stegen does not have a serious knee injury. The German national soccer goalkeeper is doing well, Deco told broadcaster Movistar before the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup in Jeddah. Ter Stegen is being examined in Barcelona by the doctor who recently operated on his knee.
“He had a bad feeling in his knee, and of course you’re always a little worried when a player comes back from an injury because he’s had problems with that knee in the past,” said Deco. Now the knee is immobilized for now. “And we’re glad it’s nothing serious,” emphasized Deco.
Deco comments on ter Stegen’s future
Ter Stegen had just returned after a long injury break. He made his comeback in the Spanish Cup in a 2-0 away win against CD Guadalajara. The 33-year-old former Gladbacher needs match practice in order to be in the German goal at the World Cup in the summer.
There is talk of a winter move, most recently a loan deal to league rivals FC Girona in the area around Barcelona. “There’s nothing to say about the future. Marc is our player, he came to Saudi Arabia to be part of the team and then this happened to him, that’s it,” said Deco.
