With starting number 21, Josefin Taljegård stepped out onto the ice with her sights set on yet another EC final. Taljegård performed a stable short program with high levels in all pirouettes and in the step, but where technical mistakes in the jumping elements dragged down the score. The total score of 50.44 was enough to secure a place among the top 24 who advanced to the final.
– Right now I am both disappointed and relieved. When I stepped off the ice, I knew I had technical mistakes but not that they would be so costly. I know I can do so much more and I am happy and relieved that I have another chance to show this in the final on Friday, says Josefin Taljegård after the short program.
Taljegård, which is now ready for its fifth consecutive EC final, thus continues its stable championship trend.
– Josefin is a skater who always reaches out to the audience with her programs and interpretation of the music, and she did that today as well. Technically, she didn’t get full payoff in the jumps, which affected the technical score. Now it’s time to take the big picture and recharge for Friday’s final, says Anna Burwall, the Figure Skating Association’s sports manager.
The women’s final will be decided on Friday starting at 19:00.
Tomorrow is the time for Andreas Nordebäck to step into the EC competitions. The men’s short program starts at 14:40 and with starting number 11 we see Nordebäck on the ice at about 16:12.
