Reassuring news. A little over three weeks after the tragic fire in Crans-Montana (Switzerland), young FC Metz footballer Tahirys Dos Santos published a story on Instagram to reassure about his state of health. Seriously burned in the blaze of the Constellation bar, the scene of the tragedy that occurred on New Year’s Eve, the 19-year-old left-back, who courageously returned inside the burning building to rescue his girlfriend, is “better”.
“The road is still long, but I look ahead, with confidence and determination,” he wrote to his subscribers “after difficult weeks.” “Thank you to everyone who supported me. The future awaits me,” concluded Messin, who confirmed having received “a transplant” recently.
“He will find the land again”
Christophe Hutteau, the player’s agent, republished his foal’s message on his Facebook account this Friday evening. “Tahirys Dos Santos (…) is still hospitalized in the burn center at the Mercy hospital in Metz,” he revealed. “He wanted to share with you his fight and his hopes. The road will be long but he will return to the fields and the professionalism of football with FC Metz. »
As a reminder, Dos Santos, who benefits from a trainee contract in Lorraine, was transferred to Stuttgart (Germany) shortly after the incident to be monitored in the burns department. Suffering from several injuries, his skin was burned “up to 30%” according to his agent.
Shortly before the tragedy, the defender had just experienced his first call-up with the professional group during the 32nd final of the Coupe de France against Bisheim (0-3). Part of the reserve team in National 3, the victim of Crans-Montana was on the rise at the end of 2025.
“Tahirys’s morale is good,” reassured N3 coach Abasse Ba in the columns of the Républicain Lorrain on January 17. Sports director Frédéric Arpinon, for his part, said that his player was “recovering slowly”, with the support of the entire club and president Bernard Serin.
