Tagger Dominates UAE Tournament: Unbeaten Run

Lilli Tagger wins the tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

The 17-year-old beat Briton Harriet Dart (7) 6:4 and 6:2 in the final of the well-endowed ITF W100 tournament in Fujairah. This means that the East Tyrolean remains without losing a set throughout the entire tournament.

The victory in the UAE also means a jump in the WTA ranking: Tagger will appear in the top 130 in the world for the first time. This makes the ÖTV jewel the highest ranked U18 player in the rankings.

ÖTV-Juwel travels on to Mumbai

Next week, Francesca Schiavone’s protégé will continue in Mumbai, India, where she will compete in a WTA125 tournament.

Tagger had previously won the ITF level tournaments in Terrassa, Bucharest and Kursumlijska Banja. Her greatest success to date was reaching the final of the WTA250 tournament in Jiujiang almost three months ago.
