Sweden won the match 6–3.

The big goal fireworks came in the second period, which Sweden opened with a 1-0 lead after Casper Juustovaara Karlsson’s goal in the first.

The Swedes took hold of the period properly and went up to 3-0 after goals from first Eddie Genborg, and then one from Lucas Pettersson.

The third after a real cannon shot from the brown nosed.

“One of the best periods I have seen”

The USA managed a reduction and had the chance for another when Love Härenstam went out for a reinforcement – but then Sweden extended the numerical disadvantage when Lucas Pettersson found the net again.

Eddie Genborg then scored his second of the match and Sweden’s fourth of the period and afterwards SVT’s hockey experts were lyrical:

– The best period that Sweden has played in this tournament, stated Håkan Loob before Jonas Andersson filled in:

– One of the best JVM periods I’ve seen.

Played against Latvia in the quarterfinals

With the 6–3 victory, Sweden takes home the group after a maximum of twelve points in four matches and, as group leader, gets to face the fourth team of the second group, which is Latvia, in the quarter-finals.

– Everyone chips in today. I’m damn proud of the guys. Now we celebrate the New Year, says Sweden’s team captain Jack Berglund to SVT Sport.

Sweden-Latvia is played on Friday evening Swedish time and the entire JVM is broadcast on SVT.
