A meeting of the HNS Executive Board was held in Zagreb at the headquarters of the Croatian Football Association, and among other things, a decision was made to appoint a new general secretary of the Association, HNS announced on its official page.
The executive board accepted the resignation of the previous general secretary, Tomislav Svetinaand is on the proposal of the president Marijan Kustić appointed to the position of the first operative of the Alliance dr. Josip Tomaškoformer deputy general secretary.
“The successes of the Croatian Football Association are based on the unity of all stakeholders of the HNS. As the general secretary, I do not want to be a means of trying to undermine that unity and tarnish the reputation of both myself and the HNS, and therefore I have decided to resign from the position of the general secretary of the HNS. In the newly created atmosphere, great pressure has been created on the Association, and because of this, I consider this move to be the most responsible towards the Association, President Kustić and my colleagues in the Executive Committee.”said the former general secretary of HNS, Tomislav Svetina.
The executive board appointed Dr. Josip Tomaško, former deputy secretary general and head of the HNS competition, to the position of general secretary. During his work at HNS since 2013, Tomaško also performed the functions of secretary of younger representative age groups and head of the international affairs department. Tomaško received his doctorate at the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb, and in 2021 he completed the prestigious Uefa education “Diploma in Football Leadership and Management” as one of the best participants.
“I thank the Executive Committee, which once again showed unity in its actions. I understand this decision of Mr. Svetina and I thank him for the contribution he made as general secretary to the successes of the Association in the past period. I am happy that we are promoting Josip to the position of general secretary, who has proven himself through many years of work in the HNS, where he got to know practically all segments of the Association’s activities, especially national teams, competitions and international relations, which is extremely important for the position of general secretary important. He is a highly educated, dedicated and hard-working employee who has our full confidence, and I hereby congratulate him and wish him success in his new position.”said the president of HNS Marijan Kustić.
The executive board adopted the propositions of the cadet and junior finals competition in indoor soccer and made a decision to fill the first NL cadet and junior league in the competition year 2026/27. Furthermore, a decision was made on the leadership of the junior football competition at the level of the center of the HNS. Also, a decision was made to confirm changes to the Statute of the HNS Football Academy. (MR)
