SV Leiferde: 800th Anniversary Events & Festivities

When Leiferde looks back on a proud 800 years of history in 2026, one player in particular will be in focus: SV Leiferde. As a sporting driving force in the community, he is preparing to accompany the big village anniversary with a varied and top-class sports program. “The special thing about SVL is the family atmosphere,” enthuses chairman Martin Sohmen.

From classic ball sports such as football, tennis, table tennis and volleyball to badminton, the club offers numerous opportunities for team sports. Discipline, control of the body and defense count in judo and karate, while gymnastics and gymnastics form the basis for fitness at any age. The dance component in particular is not neglected: SV Leiferde shows off its rhythmic side with square dance and classical dance, while boules ensures a relaxed, yet concentrated atmosphere on the pitch. “Our sporting portfolio covers almost every facet of movement,” explains Martin Sohmen.

What sets the SVL apart beyond its purely sporting achievements is its family atmosphere. “Our focus is on respectful interaction and having fun with exercise,” the chairman explains. “Everyone with everyone is the club culture that is lived here.” It doesn’t matter whether the competition is for points in performance-oriented leagues or whether the focus is on having fun in the numerous hobby teams.

In the anniversary year of Leiferde, the citizens can now expect a full SV calendar of events: In table tennis, the mini championships (January 26th), the local championship tournament (April 25th) and the Christmas training (December 17th) are scheduled. Karate courses – including on June 27th – as well as a tournament are planned. The 3rd Wohlenberg Open in June is intended to attract tennis fans to Gilder Weg, and there is also great anticipation for the inclusion sports festival (June 6th). And the Kickers football camp in August ensures sporty summer vibes.
