Sustainable Badminton: New Shuttlecocks & Opportunities

The sport of badminton also continues to evolve! That is why Badminton Flanders is taking the first step today to give new generations of shuttles a place within our competitive landscape. The use of a new type of shuttles not only helps to keep the sport affordable, but also makes the sport more sustainable.

The national sports commission has approved that Victor’s NCS (Pro) shuttle may be used during tournaments. In the season 2025-2026 this only applies to classification 12 and tournaments with age categories. From the 2026-2027 season, this admission will be extended to other classifications. More information about this will follow later.

We also want these shuttles to play a role within the provincial competitions from the ’26–’27 season. Badminton Flanders is currently working with the provinces to determine which series are eligible for this.

We believe it is essential to implement new developments and thus promote the growth of our sport. With the new shuttles we deliver benefits in various areas: they last longer, produce less waste and make the use of animal material unnecessary. It is also part of the solution to keep the sport (financially) accessible.

With these innovations we are working together on a sustainable, accessible and future-proof badminton sport for everyone.
