As of: January 2, 2026 4:56 p.m

In September, Stuttgart Surge won the European League of Football (ELF) championship title. A little later the club filed for bankruptcy. Now the bus is making headlines.

The team bus insolvent American football team “Stuttgart Surge” was seriously damaged in an accident on Friday morning near Herrenberg (Böblingen district). The police estimate the property damage at several hundred thousand euros. The road between Herrenberg and Oberjettingen was completely closed.

Police: Bus had to avoid a car

According to previous police findings, a dark car approached the bus around 7 a.m. and had overtaken a van. In order to avoid a head-on collision, the bus driver is said to have steered the Surge team bus into a grass verge next to the road. As a result, the bus was seriously damaged and had to be laboriously salvaged and then towed away. It wasn’t until around 12 p.m. that the work was finished and the road was reopened.

The Herrenberg police station is now looking for witnesses to the accident. According to the information, both the person who was supposed to have driven the dark car and the person behind the wheel of the overtaken van continued to drive without stopping.
