In their current configuration, Brooklyn simply cannot defend at a good level. Yes, the team has had some very good games in which they were able to outperform even the top teams. But now a completely different phase of the season lies ahead. Partly that’s because Thomas has returned. With him, the approaches to team play have completely disappeared. Egor Demin gets fewer opportunities to prove himself. Porter usually only throws under pressure. In such circumstances, good defense can be forgotten.
Brooklyn recently suffered a significant loss against the Clippers (89:126). But before that there was a tough fight against Boston (126:130). Sometimes the team manages to perform at a high level in attack. The Nets players mentioned above try to make every game a “shootout.” And they manage to do that too. Retreating against Phoenix also makes no sense.
