Manchester City

Premier League – Matchday 19 – 01/01/26 – 9:00 PM

Manchester City started 2026 on a false note. In a wonderful match in Sunderland, Jeremy Doku and co. settle for a point after a scoreless draw.

At Manchester City, Jeremy Doku was again in the match selection after a few weeks of injuries. The Red Devil started on the bench and saw how both teams fought each other with an open mind.

Brobbey forgot to score face to face with Donnarumma, on the other side it was Haaland who aimed the best City chance straight at Sunderland keeper Roefs.

In a wonderful second half, Manchester City systematically increased the pressure. Savinho immediately made the visitors’ intentions clear with two huge chances at the start, but the Brazilian lacked killer instinct in front of goal and was replaced by Doku moments later.

With the Belgian between the lines, City posed even more of a threat, although they also continued to watch out for the counters of an eager Sunderland, who certainly did not dig in.

The best chances remained for the visitors. Doku made himself noticed with a clever action and a strong shot, which hit Sunderland defender Mukiele full in the face. Fellow substitute Gvardiol also got the ball but could not get past a strong goalkeeping Roefs.

Sunderland remains unbeaten at home this season with a 0-0 score.
