Strasbourg: Chelsea’s Sarr Recall Decision

Looking for defensive reinforcement during this winter transfer window, Chelsea are struggling to finalize the path leading to the young defender from Stade Rennais, Jérémy Jacquet. Discussions between the two clubs having not yet been concluded, the management of the Blues is now exploring other options.

According to information from RMC, Chelsea are seriously considering recalling Mamadou Sarr (20 years old), currently on loan to RC Strasbourg. Starting several times in Ligue 1 this season and author of an excellent CAN, the Senegalese central defender played 14 matches in Alsatian colors, showing remarkable progress.

Appreciated by the new manager of the Blues, Liam Rosenior, Mamadou Sarr could represent an internal solution to strengthen the central hinge of the London club, currently 5th in the Premier League. An option all the more credible as the player already knows the environment of the BlueCo group, owner of Chelsea and Strasbourg.

However, the recall of the young defender is not unconditional. Chelsea had considered compensating for his departure by loaning Aaron Anselmino, recently repatriated from Dortmund, to RCSA. A proposal ultimately refused by the Argentine defender, complicating discussions between the different parties.

On the BlueCo side, the position is clear: no return of Mamadou Sarr to Chelsea without a reliable replacement for Strasbourg.

The next few weeks therefore promise to be decisive for the future of the Senegalese defender, whose name is now at the heart of winter negotiations.
