Special Olympics Sicily: Growth & Impact

Regional director Natale Saluci: “The project is giving excellent results, especially from a cultural and social point of view”

«The year just ended saw the consolidation of the regional team with the presence of Special Olympics in all the Sicilian provinces and the presence in the numerous unified sport initiatives promoted by Special Olympics Italy»: this is the assessment made by the regional director Natale Saluci.

2026 will begin with a meeting on January 24th in Enna with all the Regional Staff, the Provincial Staff and the managers of the accredited associations to plan the next activities. Courses for athletics, table tennis, bowls, badminton, swimming, basketball and football technicians are planned this year.

«This is to be able to organize the Regional Games of each discipline and the planning of an international unified football event – underlines Saluci -. The “Inclusive Sicily” project is certainly giving excellent results, especially from a cultural and social point of view, spreading the Special Olympics philosophy: inclusion is possible through the path of unified sport.”
