Sochaux Points Restored: National League Ruling & Valenciennes Sanction

This Thursday, the FFF disciplinary committee heard the leaders of Valenciennes, six weeks after the incidents that occurred during added time of the match against Sochaux at the Hainaut stadium. While the Yellow and Blue were leading 1-0, dozens of northern supporters threatened to invade the pitch, leading to the final interruption of the match.

After instruction, the FFF decided to designate the FCSM winner of this match “on the green carpet”, that is to say with a score of 3-0 (which is anecdotal, the ties being decided on the goal-average in particular in National). With three more points, the Sochaliens officially return to three points behind Rouen, just before the shock this Friday (7:30 p.m.).

For its part, Valenciennes, already in bad shape sportingly, received a sanction of one firm point in the standings, as well as a suspension match – suspended – from the Nungesser stand. “Pending the motivations which led to these decisions, the VAFC reserves the right to appeal,” the club immediately indicated in a press release.
