SK Slavia Praha prepared an unconventional and above all human gesture on the occasion of club captain Honza Bořil’s birthday. This time, however, the attention was not directed directly to the player himself, but to his daughter Nelinca and the entire family.
Honza Bořil belongs to the most outstanding personalities of the modern history of Slavia. He played more than 300 matches in the Slavist jersey, won five championship titles, won the MOL Cup four times and played in the Champions League twice. But the club realizes that alongside sports statistics there are also stories that don’t fit in the tables – and yet they are the most important.
“Honza Bořil is not only a captain on the field, but above all a father. And this role is the most important for him,” he says in the club video that Slavia published on this occasion.
Recently, the Bořil family has been facing a challenging life situation related to their daughter’s health problems. It is a long-term challenge that requires time, patience and a huge amount of mutual support.
Slavia, in cooperation with its partners, therefore decided to prepare three symbolic experiences for Nelinka – “three nuts for Nelinka”. The first of them was a meeting with Santa Claus and a ride in a unique Christmas truck. The private tour, gifts from Santa and the subsequent ride together were a powerful and joyful experience for Nelinka.
The second nut came from her interest in design. Nelinka was given the opportunity to participate in the creation of her own collection for the club’s fanshop – for children, for pets and above all for her beloved Luisa. Fans can see the entire process and the result in the attached video and photos, and the collection will be available in the fanshop during spring 2026.
The third nut remains open for now. When Nelinky was asked which player she would like to accompany in the match between SK Slavia Praha and FC Barcelona, she answered without hesitation: with her father. Only time, the decisions of the coaches and the form of the captain will tell whether this dream will turn into reality. We will find out the answer on January 21, 2026 in Eden.
Slavia is an organization that stands by itself even in moments that do not take place on the pitch.
“A captain, a leader, a heartthrob, but above all Bóřa is a symbol of enormous inner strength and character for us. We all admire him for how many times he was able to come back and with what commitment he still performs brilliantly at the highest level. At the same time, he has a much more important role, which he manages even better, every day. Being the father of a little girl who does not have it easy in life. We wanted to show him and his family that they are not alone in this and that Slavia is for them will always be a home where they can fulfill their dreams and wishes. Not only on the field, but also off it. And I’m sure that a happy child is the best birthday present for every dad,” adds the chairman of the board of directors, Jaroslav Tvrdík.
The video and the entire project are primarily a thank you to Honzo Bořil – not only for his performances and dedication to the club, but above all for the kind of person and father he is.
