Sint-Truiden won 1-0 against OH Louvain on Sunday evening. A victory which allows STVV to climb to second place in the ranking.
Sint-Truiden hosted OHL this Sunday evening to close the 21st day of the Pro League. Rein Van Helden celebrated his first tenure in place of Sissako. Noe Dussenne made his return to the starting eleven of Louvain.
Sint-Truiden strikes from the start
Sint-Truiden quickly took the lead. After a first signed alert Arbnor Mujathe winger overflowed on his side around ten minutes later and served Ilias Sebaouiwho opened the scoring. OH Louvain found itself in difficulty very early in the match.
The difference in level was striking at the start of the match. Even after the opening score, STVV maintained control. It was only at the end of the first half that the visitors began to get their heads above water.
OHL fights, but Leysen saves the furniture
The strike of Wouter George gave Sint-Truiden a cold sweat by hitting the crossbar before the break. Kokubo had to intervene to maintain the Canaries’ advantage.
In the second half, the match heated up with chances on both sides. OHL pushed to equalize, Sint-Truiden looked for the break goal. Despite an avalanche of chances, the goalkeeper Tobe Leysen was having a big night and pushed everything away.
The Canaries overtake Club Brugge
Thanks to this victory, Sint-Truiden climbs to second place in the ranking, just ahead of Club Brugge. The Canaries have 42 points, three less than the leader, Union Saint-Gilloise.
