– It was exciting and crazy how many people came here. It was awesome to share this with Paula, to be on the podium with a teammate is the best feeling in the world, says a beaming Shiffrin in Viaplay’s broadcast.
It was an American duel where Paula Moltzan put pressure on Shiffrin. Halfway through the second run, Moltzan seriously challenged, but Shiffrin was as usual very strong in the finish and won by a clear margin – her sixth slalom victory out of seven this season.
In the seventh, she was second.
“Has given me a big kick”
– The high level this season has given me a big kick, says Shiffrin.
Anna Swenn Larsson received a good report of form before the Olympics and the sixth place shows dawning form.
Sara Hector, who lives in Austria, happily waved to the crowd after her successful attack-filled second run. She lifted from eighth to seventh place. She stayed around the leader’s chair for a long time and applauded the competitors.
Recent Olympic qualifier Estelle Alphand, 15th after the first run, was on her way to something really good in the second run but faltered halfway.
Cornelia Öhlund, who also got an Olympic spot on Friday, went out at the end of the first race.
