All of Senegal was blown away, in the 77th minute of the round of 16 of the 2025 African Cup of Nations, when Ibrahim Mbaye won his duel with the Sudanese goalkeeper. The Lions of Teranga then had a two-goal lead thanks to the PSG striker and headed towards the next round (3-1).
Aged 17 (he will be 18 on January 24), Ibrahim Mbaye had barely replaced Ismaïla Sarr (73rd). Launched on the right side, he entered the area, resisting the return of the Sudanese defense and adjusted with a shot under the bar. He became the youngest player to score in a CAN since the turn of the century.
This is his first goal during the 2025 African Cup of Nations. His entry against the Democratic Republic of Congo, during the second day of the group stage, had already been decisive. On a tumble on the right side, his shot repelled by the goalkeeper was well followed by Sadio Mané (1-1).
Ibrahim Mbaye therefore had a great African Cup of Nations, having played 13 Ligue 1 matches this season with Paris Saint-Germain, scoring one goal (last December 7 against Rennes, 5-0).
If he had not yet scored during the CAN, he had however opened his account for the selection during a friendly match. It was last November 18, against Kenya (8-0).
