Senegal Football: Press Conference Cancelled

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) announced, then canceled at the last minute, the press conference it planned to hold this Friday, January 17, 2026 at 3 p.m., at the Amphitrite hotel in Rabat. This meeting with the press was to clarify the dysfunctions noted in the preparation of the final of the African Cup of Nations and to present the measures envisaged.

Ultimately, the FSF decided to backtrack. According to federal officials, this cancellation is explained by the muscular exit of coach Pape Thiaw during the pre-match press conference. The Senegalese technician has already expressed, bluntly, his dissatisfaction and his concerns regarding the organization, believing that he has “said everything” on the subject.

In this context, the federation considers that it is no longer necessary to return to these questions on the eve of the final. The time has now come for total concentration on tomorrow’s decisive match, with the stated objective of preserving the serenity of the group and not disrupting the Lions’ preparation.

A decision which, however, continues to spark debate and reactions, as expectations were high around this announced press conference.
