Sean Steur expects to extend his contract with Ajax, as he told the news present in the Telstar press room. The very young midfielder can extend his contract in the Johan Cruijff ArenA until mid-2030.

Sturgeon celebrated his eighteenth birthday on Sunday and on the day of his legal adulthood, the youngster appeared on the field of Telstar’s BUKO Stadium.

Interim coach Fred Grim allowed the year-old midfielder to join Ajax again from the start, which for the first time since December 2023 had no change in the starting eleven compared to the previous match.

Sturgeon played for 75 minutes and left the field with a 0-3 lead. From the reserve bench he watched intently as his team almost gave away that large lead against a ten-man Telstar.

To his relief, Grim’s men won the match and afterwards he walked through the press area like some teammates. There he was confronted with the rumors about his contract extension.

It Algemeen Dagblad reported on Friday that the seventeen-year-old midfielder can have his contract running until mid-2028 upgraded. Steur also seems to have his sights set on that, despite foreign interest from, among others, Eintracht Frankfurt.

“Sean Steur indicates after Telstar – Ajax that he assumes he will extend his contract,” writes Mike Verweij, journalist at The Telegraphafter the final whistle on X.
