The Eastern Conference leader Detroit Pistons lost to the Los Angeles Clippers 92-98 at home, while the third-placed Boston Celtics lost 95-100 to the Western Conference vice-leader San Antonio Spurs. For San Antonio, De’Eron Fox scored 21 points (9ab, 6rp) and Victor Vembanyama (6ab), who came to replace him, but double-double earned by Julien Champeni (12p, 13ab). Host Boston made only four free throws in the entire game (3/4 against 14/20), which did not please Jaylen Brown (27p, 8ab, 7rp, 5kl, 5/11 from long range), who did not stand on the penalty line once.
“I’m fed up with this inconsistency and I’m ready to be punished [par tiesnešu kritizēšanu]. There were some funny decisions tonight – Spurs are a good defensive team, but not that good. I hope someone cuts the clips because every time we play against a good team it’s the same shit – nothing is whistled at us, but technical remarks follow on the opposite end. They can punish me all they want, I’m ready to pay the damn penalty. Curtis [Blērs]the other judges too – they were all terrible tonight. And that happens every time we play against a good team,” Brown said. Derrick White (3pt. 5/17) led the team with 29 points and nine rebounds.
Midway through the first quarter, a heated argument with referee Scott Foster meant it was game over for Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd, who was angry he wasn’t given a coaching challenge. Chicago won 125-107 on the road, seven players scored at least 13 points, and Kobey White was the top scorer with 22. Nikol Vucevic double-double (15, 12ab). Cleveland “Cavaliers” won 146-134 in Minnesota (Donovan Mitchell 28p, 8rp, reserve Jaylon Tyson 23p), but even more points were scored on the road by Charlotte “Hornets”, who defeated Lauri Markanen’s rested Utah “Jazz” 150-95. The big advantage allowed to rotate the lineup, with ten players scoring at least nine points, while reserve Tre Man scored 20 points in 12 minutes.

Meanwhile, the National Basketball Association has examined the episode at the end of last year, when Dennis Schroeder confronted Luka Doncic in the hallway of the Los Angeles “Lakers” arena 40 minutes after the Sacramento “Kings” lost to the Los Angeles “Lakers” (101:125). During a break in the game, Doncic mocked former Lakers teammate Schroeder, saying he should have extended his contract with the Lakers (Schroeder once turned down a four-year, $82 million contract). Exchanged during the game kindnessesthe emotions between the players seemed to subside, but flared up again well after the end of the match, when Schroeder noticed Doncic outside the locker room, confronted him and tried to slap him. The NBA has suspended him for three games for trying to hit an opponent.
