Emotional in his inauguration speech, President of São Paulo talks about protecting the institution
In a ceremony held on Tuesday night (27), Harry Massis was officially sworn in as President of the Board of Directors of São Paulo Futebol Clube.
The event was attended by advisors, guests and the vice-president of the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF), Mauro Silva.
“The period requires serenity, maturity and balance. But it also requires unity. From the first moment I took over as an interim member, I had a clear and non-negotiable objective: to protect São Paulo, protect its credibility, its finances and its history. It’s time for reconstruction. That’s why today I’m making a sincere appeal to all advisors, managers, employees, athletes and fans. São Paulo needs everyone without exception”, stated the president.
Harry Massis has served as vice-president since 2021 and assumed the role of representative on the 16th, after an Extraordinary Meeting of the Deliberative Council.
The new president’s term extends until the end of 2026, when new elections take place.
Check out Harry Massis’ inauguration speech:
“Today I definitively assume the presidency of São Paulo Futebol Clube with the same spirit with which I spoke to this Council at the most delicate moment in recent months: respect for the institution, responsibility and commitment to the club above all.
We continue to go through a difficult period, which requires serenity, maturity and balance. But it also requires something fundamental: unity!
From the first day I took over on an interim basis, all decisions had a clear and non-negotiable objective: to protect São Paulo. Protect your credibility, your finances, your football and your history.
We will continue to move forward with transparency, strengthening governance practices and with absolute rigor in financial management, especially to guarantee stability for the football department and institutional security for the club as a whole.
This is not a time for divisions or internal disputes. It’s time for reconstruction.
Therefore, today I make a sincere appeal to everyone: advisors, managers, employees, athletes and fans. São Paulo needs everyone, without exception. United, responsible and committed to the same goal.
The club is bigger than any crisis, bigger than any circumstance and bigger than any person.
I count on everyone’s support until the end of my term, so that we can return to São Paulo the stability, respect and credibility that its history demands.”
