A parade of stars. San Marino celebrated its sports champions with a special evening at the Kursaal conference center, on the occasion of San Marino Sport Awardsan event organized by the San Marino National Olympic Committee. The ceremony, hosted by the journalist Stefano Meloccaro and the former volleyball player Rachele Sangiuliano, saw the participation of illustrious guests, including the president of CONI, Luciano Buonfiglio, the award-winning fencer Luigi Samele and the gymnast Martina Santandrea, bronze medal at the Tokyo Games.
The evening had a particularly emotional connotation, with the tribute to the victims of the tragic train accidents in Spain, and ended with the awarding of San Marino sporting excellence. Jasmine Verbena she was named Athlete of the Year 2025 thanks to her extraordinary results in artistic swimming, while the shooting team composed of Alessandra Perilli and Gian Marco Berti received the award for Best Team. The award for Best Coach went to Doriano Bindi of San Marino Baseball, while the young Elia Stacchini, born in 2009, was awarded as Promise of the Year.
Long applause in the room when a special recognition was given to Gian Primo Giardi, former president of the Cons, who received the Golden Flame “for his extraordinary merit in the sports field”. Furthermore, the winners of the literary and journalistic competition on the theme ‘Emotions from the Games of the Small States of Europe’ also took center stage, with Simone Zaccagni and Lorenzo Gasperoni among the winners.
Among the highlights, the official presentation of the flag of San Marino European Community of Sport, recognition given to the country by Aces Europe for 2026. The Secretary of State for Sport Rossano Fabbri and the leaders of Aces discussed the prestigious recognition, with the participation of the ambassador of San Marino sport and former MotoGP rider Manuel Poggiali and Lorenzo Cheli, motorsport talent and supporter of the anti-bullying campaign.
The evening ended with the nomination of Kimi Antonelli as Ambassador of Italian Sport in the world, awarded by the Italian ambassador to San Marino, Fabrizio Colaceci. The general secretary of the Cons, Eros Bologna, dedicated a moving thought to Davide Tizzano, who passed away in December, a prominent figure in the world of sport. There was no shortage of entertainment at the Kursaal with the impersonator and musician Antonio Mezzancella and the musical performances of the Malè Girls. The proceeds of the evening were donated to Aslem, the San Marino Association for the fight against leukemia and malignant blood diseases.
