The League and the CTOS are organizing an awareness week
This week, the Colosse with Feet of Clay association was contacted by the Saint-Martin Football League and the Territorial Olympic and Sports Committee (CTOS) to make interventions in the various clubs and schools on the island. The organization addresses the themes of sexual violence, hazing and harassment. Axel Ribera, prevention mission manager within the structure, explains that the association was created in 2013 “by a former rugby player, who was a victim of sexual violence. Colosse aims to “do prevention among young people but also adults who are responsible for children». «Hazing Doesn’t Have to Be Violent“, he said. “Violence is less active in clubs today, but is still present».
“it is important to talk about it with interventions adapted to different ages”
According to Axel Ribera, these interventions aim to “ make young people understand the parts of consent, provide them with details within the legal framework […] c“This is why it is important to talk about it with interventions adapted to different ages.” Alongside his collaborator Charline Tyré, he went to Soualiga college on Monday January 19, then to Mont des Accords, the following two days. On Thursday, January 22, it was the turn of several clubs on the island, including Archiball, basketball players and then Saint-Martin footballers to attend the interventions. The day before, coaches and supervisors were trained to spot the signals and listen to young people. “The students are attentive and very involved», rejoices Axel Ribera. The week ends with a public meeting, this Friday, January 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the premises of the CCISM, in the presence of young people, parents, educators, coaches and “everyone interested».
