In a few minutes, theAS Saint-Étienne (ASSE) will play a crucial match against a direct competitor on the rise. The Greens are in Reims for the 20th day of Ligue 2. Here are the XI players chosen by Eirik Horneland to start this meeting at 8 p.m.
Without being flamboyant in the game, ASSE provided the essentials last week at home. Almost two months after their last success in the championship, the Stéphanois beat Clermont by the smallest of margins (1-0). A victory which allowed the Greens to get back on the podium.
If ASSE was able to regain a place in the top three of the championship, it is also thanks to the defeat of Reims on the Troyes lawn, a few hours before the Saint-Etienne victory against CF63. The Reims lost two goals to one at the leader despite having a numerical superiority throughout the second half.
At home, Stade de Reims hopes to bring down the Greens to hope to return to the podium.
The Greens welcome reinforcements
In terms of packages, Maxime Bernauer, who had meniscus surgery a few weeks ago, is not expected to play again this season. Zuriko Davitashvili returned to racing a few days ago but remains absent for this meeting.
Several players were able to return to the ASSE group before this trip.
Eirik Horneland has been able to recover Joshua Duffus and Joao Ferreira since the start of the week. Both players resumed the collective sessions and could claim a start for this game.
Ebenezer Annan found the group last weekend. The Ghanaian, however, remained on the bench throughout the entire ASSE match against CF63. As a reminder, the former Red Star Belgrade full-back had been injured in the ankle since the beginning of December.
