Royals: Future-Proofing the Monarchy

The Royals placed well at the Baden-Württemberg youth championships. The Stuttgart Reds prevailed in the Tee-Ball class, but second and third places went to Gammertingen.

Top in the title fights

The Reds from the state capital were also ahead in the U10 category. The Royals meanwhile secured third and fourth place. The Gammertinger team came fourth in the U12 category, while Heidenheim Heideköpfe became national champions and also prevailed in the U15 competition. But the Royals were also able to convince the oldest years with places four, five and seven.

The Royals also recently held the Lieb-Bau-Cup and the Lieb-Bau-Junior-Cup for the fourth time. With a total of 14 teams and over 70 games played, the Gammertingers can look back on a successful weekend. The two days were characterized by fun, fair play and a lot of effort, which one or two hobby players will certainly still feel in the next few days. More than 20 helpers ensured the physical well-being and smooth gameplay for the approximately 100 players.

Successful home tournament

The youngest members of the Royals, the Tee-Ballers, also showed off their skills in a game on Sunday and are already eager to take part in the tournament regularly in the coming years. The tournament was rounded off with the award ceremony with Berthold Lieb, who presented the winner’s trophies on behalf of the tournament’s namesake, the Lieb Hoch- und Tiefbau company.

Meanwhile, the men from the Royals started preparing for the coming season in the 2nd Bundesliga at the beginning of January. After a short speech from coach Arthur Müller at the beginning of the year, the boys started their first preparation unit. The focus was on both hitting technique and defense. Intensive exercises made some people sweat a lot.

Strengths and weaknesses in focus

Müller was satisfied with the effort and intensity of his team. The high level of concentration and the will to work on one’s own strengths and weaknesses were particularly evident in the first unit. In the coming weeks, technique, tactics and fitness will be refined step by step in order to be well prepared for the new season of the 2nd Bundesliga.

This starts in April, and the Gammertingen Royals will then be back in the Südwest 2 season against the Tübingen Hawks, the Stuttgart Reds 2, the Heidenheimer Heideköpfe 2 and the Neuenburg Atomics. Last season the Royals finished in last place in the table, this time things should go better.
