Routot Badminton Club: Growth & Community

Saturday January 3 and Sunday January 4, 2026, the Routot gymnasium (Eure) hosted the departmental youth badminton championship, organized by the Routot Badminton club (BCR). This important event for European badminton took place under the presidency of Sandrine Crombez and brought together many young players from all over the department.

The competition, open to chick (8 years old) to junior (18 years old) categories, took place over two days. Saturday was dedicated to men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles, while Sunday was reserved for men’s singles and women’s singles. In total, 56 young people participated on Saturday and 76 on Sunday, including 21 BCR licensees, illustrating significant participation from the organizing club.

Nearly 100 young people licensed at the club

The players came from Gagny, Étrépagny, Vernon, Pont-de-l’Arche, Val-de-Reuil and Pont-Audemer. Despite delicate weather conditions making the roads slippery, parents and chaperones enabled the competition to run smoothly through their presence and commitment.

The championship took place in a friendly atmosphere, marked by fair play and self-arbitration. As Sandrine Crombez, president of the BCR, pointed out: “This championship perfectly illustrates the values that we defend at the BCR: fair play, respect and commitment of young people, with exemplary self-refereeing and a friendly atmosphere throughout the weekend. »

The Routot Badminton Club has established itself today as one of the most important clubs in the Eure department. He counts 91 licensees under 18 years of age, including 12 registration requests refused due to lack of available slots. Including adults, the club has a total of 156 members. The young people train on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, with supervision provided by volunteers: four supervisors are mobilized on Monday, two on Tuesday and two on Thursday.

On a sporting level, the BCR is also represented at the regional level, with two young people regularly participating in the Regional Youth Trophy (TRJ): Ewen Léausticin the cadet category, and Melissandre Depoixin the youngest category.

This dynamic will continue soon, since the Routot Badminton club will organize, in three weeks, the adult Eure championship.
