Ropaž & Jūrmala: Ice Rinks & Skiing Options

In the Ropaži region, in the winter season, residents have access to several freely accessible ice rinks and ski tracks, informs the municipality of the Ropaži region. There is also a cross-country skiing track available in Jūrmala.

Currently, there are two freely accessible skating rinks in Ropažu district: in Ulbrok, near the Ropažu district municipal council building, and in the village of Kode. By the end of the week, it is planned to fill the ice rinks: Bukultos, sports field; In Upesciema, near the BMMP hockey field; In Ropaži, near the school; Muceniekos, near the stadium; In Vangaži, by the lake. While preparations are still underway, representatives of the municipality ask that these rinks not be used until Thursday/Friday.

Currently, the tracks of the ski track are laid in Vangaži (by the lake, around the football stadium) and Upesciem (around the volleyball courts and across the street). On January 6-7, it is planned to draw ski tracks in the following places: Muceniekos, around the stadium; In Zaķumuiža, near the sports field; In Ropaž, in the park and near the sports field. It is planned to build ski tracks in Garkalne and Langstini when the thickness of the snow cover increases in the forest areas. Current information is available on the website www.ropazi.lv.

Skates and skis can be rented at the Ropaž Sports Center in Ropaž and Zaķumuiž. Inventory rental is not available in other places of Ropaži region, according to representatives of the municipality.

For fans of active recreation, a cross-country skiing track is also available in the Dzintari forest park in Jurmala. Every day from From 9.00 to 22.00 a 950 m long track is available for the classic step. The rental of skiing equipment is not provided, informs the Jūrmala city administration. The park is decorated with colorful lighting and new environmental objects – big and small stars, as well as an interactive aircraft, which will especially delight children.
