Some regrets but a good draw. Once again, Red Star demonstrated that it was not for nothing the best away team in L2 (24 points) by not returning empty-handed from its 10th trip (out of 12) since the start of the season. The Seine-Saint-Denis club earned a draw in Rodez (1-1) this Friday evening for the 21st day.
Solid and ambitious, Grégory Poirier’s men could even (should) have brought home the three points with more efficiency in the second half. However, they must be content with a sharing of points which puts them back in 3rd place with a length behind Reims (2nd), winner at Clermont (0-1), while remaining under the threat of Le Mans (4th) and Saint-Étienne (5th) who play this Saturday.
Agreement reached for Balthazar Pierret
Undefeated since November 21 in L2 (2 wins and 5 draws), Rodez takes control of the game from the start. Saka eliminates two defenders but Poussin brilliantly intervenes (19th). By pushing, the Aveyronnais found the fault with a great collective action concluded by Balde (1-0, 28th). The Red Star reacted immediately. On a long off-center free kick from Trani, the former Ruthenian Danger equalized with the tip of his foot (1-1, 33rd).
Change of scenery upon returning from the locker room. The Audoniens regained possession of the ball and proved dangerous on multiple occasions. A cross shot from Meissa Ba (59th) then a free kick from Haag (61st) were repelled by Braat. The local goalkeeper then made a heroic save in front of Khaoui (63rd). Red Star insists. A volley from Kémo Cissé ends his run flush with the post (79th). This is the last opportunity of the meeting.
“I am satisfied with this point, judge Grégory Poirier. We didn’t respond in the first half but when we returned from the locker room we could almost have had the perfect shot with our clear chances. We are less technically well lately. The teams are coming to press us more and we must do better in the recovery. »
Behind the scenes, Red Star is in the process of signing defensive midfielder Balthazar Pierret (25 years old) who has been playing in Lecce since 2024. The two clubs have reached an agreement for his transfer and he should be able to travel in the coming hours to undergo his medical examination. Balthazar Pierret will therefore be the third winter recruit after goalkeeper Mouez Hassen and center forward Pape Meïssa Ba. A piston is still expected before the end of the transfer window set for this Monday at 8 p.m.
