The Riga municipality has signed an agreement with the Riga planning region on the implementation of the project “Construction of the lighting and players’ warm-up zone in accordance with the requirements of the Latvian Football Federation in the sports complex of Riga Hanza High School on Grostonas street 5”.
“Continuing the development of the sports infrastructure in Riga, we will improve the infrastructure of the football stadium at Riga Hansa High School, which is an important contribution to the creation of a high-quality and safe sports environment. The new lighting and the renovated warm-up area for the players will ensure the stadium’s compliance with the requirements of the Latvian Football Federation. The sports surface will be renewed on an area of more than 600 m², as well as a new running track surface will be laid. This will expand the opportunities for children, young people and adults to play sports in a modern and safe way environment, and will also allow Riga to host high-level football competitions,” says Riga Vice Mayor Edvards Ratnieks.
The aim of the project is to improve the infrastructure of the football stadium of Riga Hansa High School in Riga, Grostonas Street 5, ensuring the construction of a lighting system and renovating the players’ warm-up area in accordance with the requirements set by the association “Latvijas Futbola Federācija” for the I League stadium category, thus promoting a safe and high-quality sports environment for children, youth and adults, as well as providing opportunities to organize matches of the Latvian Championship Virsliga in the stadium.
The project is implemented within the framework of the competition “Regional development support measure – infrastructure adaptation and maintenance” with the support of the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development from the funds of the Latvian state budget.
The total cost of the project is 199,377 euros, incl. state budget funding of 149,439 euros and Riga municipality funding of 49,937 euros.
The project implementation period is 12 months from the moment of signing the contract. In 2025, the renovation of the covering of the players’ warm-up area was carried out, in 2026, the lighting construction of the football field will be carried out.
