Jamal Musiala is finally back on the pitch for FC Bayern. After his comeback, he revealed how the long injury break affected him.
After Jamal Musiala had to take a break for around six months due to a broken fibula he suffered at the Club World Cup against Paris Saint-Germain, he was finally back on the pitch last weekend in the 5-1 win against RB Leipzig – and was able to provide an assist just a minute after coming on as a substitute.
Even though the Munich exceptional talent didn’t play against Union Saint-Gilloise, one thing is certain: Musiala is back and can attack fully again. He has now spoken in detail to FC Bayern TV about his month-long break: “I’m alive again,” Musiala said at the beginning about his long-awaited return to the field.
The 22-year-old further explained that he “sees the injury as a big learning experience. You learn more about yourself and are put to the toughest test. Rehab is no fun. It’s always something worse than the previous time. You have to come back in top shape and hopefully better than before.”
“New chapter with new shirt number”
Although rehab was certainly not a walk in the park for Musiala, he noted that “the way everything went,” he “couldn’t have felt better.” “I love being on the pitch so much. The feeling of watching games is completely different than standing on the pitch. You become even more aware of that after an injury like this,” continued the dribbling artist.
With his comeback, “a new chapter begins for him – with a new shirt number. Robben was my favorite player with number 10 when I was a child. You have a great responsibility when you wear this number. I hope that I come back as a better player,” concluded Musiala.
