Real Madrid: Targeting Argentina’s World Cup Stars

After several years without looking to the big stars of Argentine football when assembling their squads, the arrival of Franco Mastantuono seems to have ushered in a new era of confidence at Real Madridone that could continue with the arrival of up to three compatriots once the 2026 World Cup is over.

The already well-known case is that of Nico Paza 21-year-old talent who has earned the trust of Lionel Scaloni in the national team and who shines wearing the Como jersey in Serie A. For him, the White House will finally exercise the buy-back clause that will allow them to bring him back for just 9 million euroseven though his market value reached 65 million in the last season.

But Ace Diary confirmed two other Real Madrid targets in La Albiceleste, both world champions in Qatar in 2022. They are Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea and Alexis Mac Allister of Liverpool; both intended as definitive replacements for Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, two figures the Merengue club has yet to properly replace.

For now, the Spanish portal reported that they are more on Florentino Pérez’s wish list than a concrete decisionmainly due to the large outlay of money it would take to sign both in the same transfer window. The Blues set a 250 million euro release clause for Enzo and have no intention of negotiating his transfer; while Maca would not leave the Reds for less than 100 million.

While the former River player could be seen as a more recent desire, in the case of the former Boca player there had already been a recommendation from Carlo Ancelottithe club’s former coach, to move forward with his signing as the ideal replacement for the German Toni Kroos, who left the team in May of last year, deciding to retire.

Despite the loss of prominence Franco Mastantuono experienced, hindered by a groin injury that prevented him from performing at his best, at Real Madrid they are convinced that the future includes the Argentine and for that reason immediately dismissed the first inquiries about the possibility of him going out on loan.

The Argentine got more minutes coming off the bench in the match that ended in a rout against Betis last Sunday and is part of the squad to play in the Spanish Super Cup, where he hopes to have even more prominence than he did at the end of 2025.
