The Real Madrid fans are very aware of the hypothetical departure of the white club from the Euroleague heading to tournament supervised by the NBA and FIBA.

In their statement, the clubs assess how “a mistake” the possibility that Real Madrid opts for the NBA project over the Euroleague: “Our bet is on basketball in Europe in which we can face historical teams with basketball tradition. And, today, that is not the approach that the NBA Europe project seems to offer in which, in the current Euroleague, only Real Madrid would be there. Going alone to that new competition, in our humble opinion, would be a mistake.”
Real Madrid must always play in the highest continental competition and, as of today, the NBA Europe project cannot offer that.
“The NBA Europe project, in view of the statements made this week by its commissioner, generates more shadows than lights, both on a sporting and economic level,” they stressed.

In their statement, the clubs highlight that “Real Madrid must always play in the highest continental competition and that, today, cannot be offered by the NBA Europe project.”

Sergio Scariolocoach of Real Madrid, recently stated that “I haven’t thought about it. I think there is a margin to join forces and not put them in conflict. I have fun in this Euroleague and I have spent three fantastic years in the NBA. I appreciated his way of seeing things. Anything that involves adding options is good for European basketball. This club has started a medium-long-term plan. This year we are psyched to compete this season but we think in the long term. The best ally of bad decisions is short-termism. The “Our focus is on the long term. This is a club that has more than 100 years of history. The important thing is to avoid short-termism.”

Full statement from the Madrid supporters clubs on whether or not the club will continue in the Euroleague
“Given the information that has appeared in recent months and, especially, in recent weeks about the position of our Club regarding the Euroleague and the NBA Europe project, we would like to jointly express our opinion on this.
We assume that public information is scarce and that the Club itself has not clearly shown what its position is. Our bet is on basketball in Europe in which we can face historical teams with basketball tradition. And, today, that is not the approach that the NBA Europe project seems to offer in which, in the current Euroleague, only Real Madrid would be. Going alone to this new competition, in our humble opinion, would be a mistake.
It is true that the Euroleague has things that we do not agree with, such as the celebration of the Final Four in Abu Dhabi and the very high price of season tickets in all F4. Nor the participation of a recently created team from Dubai just for economic reasons, among others.
However, despite all this, it is still the competition that currently brings together the great historical clubs of European basketball and has a clear project, whether we like it more or less. On the other hand, the NBA Europe project, in view of the statements made this week by its commissioner, generates more shadows than lights, both on a sporting and economic level.
We are proud that our Club has always been a pioneer in the creation of new competitions but we would like it to do so alongside other teams with great tradition. It is necessary to reach agreements and improve what the Euroleague currently offers in certain aspects.

On the other hand, and finally, make it clear that we will always bet on basketball in which the passion of the fans is an important pillar of the competitions and in which the prices of tickets and season tickets are reasonably priced so that this sport does not become a luxury item.
