The night’s NHL went the way of Pittsburgh, who without much difficulty took home the victory with 6-2 against Edmonton. One of the winning team’s goals at home was scored by Swedish Rickard Rakell.

After three straight goals in just 37 seconds in the first period by Pittsburgh, Edmonton managed to reduce in the sixth minute of the second period through Jake Walman, played by Swedish Mattias Janmark.

Compatriot, also the opposing team’s attacking star, Rickard Rakell then made sure to extend Pittsburgh’s lead to 4–1.

In that vein, the match continued and although Edmonton’s Swedish player Mattias Ekholm managed to assist teammate Jake Walman to score again, it was ultimately a clear victory for Pittsburgh.

32-year-old Rakell has been selected for the Swedish Olympic squad. Both club and national team mate Erik Karlsson is also selected and was back on the ice for the first time in six games after a lower body injury.
