jpnn.com – YOGYAKARTA – PSIM Yogyakarta was beaten by Persebaya Surabaya in the 18th week of the BRI Super League match at Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul, Sunday (25/1).

PSIM Yogyakarta coach Jean-Paul Van Gastel admitted that he took a risky decision in the second half of the match.

It is known that Ze Valente and friends lost heavily against Persebaya with a score of 0-3.

Persebaya’s goals were scored by Gali Freitas, Bruno Pereira and Rachmat Irianto respectively.

PSIM managed to control the game, but failed to dismantle Persebaya Surabaya’s defense.

PSIM Yogyakarta coach Jean-Paul Van Gastel said that in the first half Persebaya was just waiting for his team to make a mistake and counterattack.

“That happened with the first goal and the second goal. We were structurally unbalanced so there were opponents who could expose our back line,” said Jean-Paul Van Gastel, quoted from JPNN Jogja.

He admitted that he had taken a risky decision after being 2 goals behind, by bringing in a number of players with attacking instincts, but the strategy did not produce results.
