In the Paris Saint-Germain stadium file, the last word has certainly not been spoken. While the capital’s club is making progress behind the scenes on the construction of a large stadium in the suburbs, the burning question of the Parc des Princes, a point of tension between PSG and the City of Paris, continues to regularly come to the forefront of the news.
This Sunday, it is La Tribune Dimanche which reveals the results of a survey carried out by the polling institute Harris Interactive on the subject, which will inevitably be one of the points of debate in the municipal elections next March. According to this study, 61% of Parisian voters are in favor of selling the Parc des Princes to PSG.
Tensions with Paris town hall
The sale of the Park to PSG is the option preferred by an overwhelming majority of the club’s supporters, who are very attached to the stadium. It is also in the majority among the electorates of all the main candidates for mayor of Paris, according to the survey: 78% among supporters of Sophia Chikirou (LFI), 64% among those of Rachida Dati (LR), 63% among supporters of Pierre-Yves Bournazel (Horizons and Renaissance) and 60% for those of Emmanuel Grégoire (PS).
But this sale is far from certain. The subject had created tensions that had become irreversible between the club and the Paris town hall, with Anne Hidalgo in the lead. At the beginning of December, the socialist candidate for his succession, Emmanuel Grégoire, opened the door to a sale.
