Paris Saint-Germain sees things more clearly. Hooked by Newcastle this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes (1-1), Luis Enrique’s men completed the regular phase of the Champions League in 11th place, missing direct qualification for the round of 16.
They will therefore have to go through the play-offs, the draw of which is scheduled for this Friday, January 30. The reigning European champions can, however, begin to plan for their future opponent.
PSG’s two potential opponents in the play-offs
– AS Monaco
– Karabagh
Indeed, for the benefit of its 11th place, PSG knows the names of its two potential future opponents in the next round: it will be either AS Monaco (21st) or Qarabag (22nd). Like last year, the capital club could therefore face a French club in the play-offs. In 2024-2025, Ousmane Dembélé and his partners eliminated Brest.
In the event of qualification for the round of 16, the road would already rise sharply for the capital club, which would see FC Barcelona or Chelsea stand in its way.
