Two months before the first round of municipal elections, the future of Paris-Saint-Germain – or rather its stadium – is entering the political arena. In Paris, socialist candidate Emmanuel Grégoire opened the door to a sale of the Parc des Princes with the aim of keeping the club in the capital. A prospect that the current mayor, Anne Hidalgo (PS), had always refused.
A refusal which pushed the club to look for another base to build an enclosure with 65,000 to 80,000 seats, “at the height of the major European clubs”. Two sites are still in the running: Massy in Essonne and Poissy in Yvelines.
