This 2026, nearly 30,000 people will participate in the eleven sports circuits organized by the Malaga Provincial Council. These circuits, some with four decades of experience, are held throughout the year in all regions of the province with more than 200 sporting events. In the last edition, nearly 70 municipalities participated.
This was announced by the vice president and deputy of Sports, Juan Rosas, together with municipal representatives and sports technicians from some of the municipalities participating in this year’s circuits, as well as representatives of the ten federations involved, the sports clubs of the province and the sponsoring companies Coca-Cola, Vive, Decathlon and Infisport.
Rosas has detailed that the program includes the 40th Provincial Summer Swimming Circuit, the 20th Provincial Winter Swimming Circuit; the 34th Provincial Athletics Circuit; the 34th Provincial Karate Circuit; the 32nd 3×3 Basketball Circuit; the 32nd Chess Circuit; the 28th Cycling Circuit; the 26th Triathlon Circuit; the 25th Orientation Circuit; the 6th Badminton Circuit and the 4th Petanque Circuit.
This Saturday the cycling and petanque circuits will start in Mijas and Torrox, and on Sunday swimming will begin in Vélez-Málaga, athletics in Coín and cycling in Istán.
These circuits are open to people of all ages, from schoolchildren to seniors, and both experienced athletes and those who are just starting out in different sports modalities can participate. In this way, youth sport is encouraged, the values associated with sport such as teamwork, effort and discipline are promoted, healthy habits are encouraged, helping to prevent diseases and reduce the risk of obesity, and it contributes to active aging, as highlighted by the deputy.
Rosas explained that “sport is also a tool for the integration of people with disabilities and for the promotion of gender equality.” In this sense, he highlighted the 91 athletes with some type of disability who participated in the 2025 circuits, trusting that this year the number will continue to increase, and he celebrated that female participation has risen again and is already close to 30%. In this sense, he recalled that the Provincial Council contributes to effective equality in all areas of sport through the More Sport, More Women program.
The deputy has also highlighted that the celebration of some of these circuits is possible thanks to the complete sports facilities available to the municipalities of Malaga, many of which are the result of collaboration between the town councils and the Provincial Council itself.
