The Pontevedra town of Nigrán would host one of the first tests of the national U13 and U17 circuit of the new season. In this competition, which took place in the Municipal Sports Pavilion of Panxón – Xurxo Otero, it brought together a total of 134 athletes from the aforementioned categories in the five modalities.
Two of the U17 players from the Hoyo de Manzanares Badminton Club would manage to reach the podium positions, Martín Fenoll would climb to second place, in the men’s singles category, and would also get the bronze medal, along with his partner Pablo Sanz, in the men’s doubles category.
The final of the men’s singles was closely contested, since Martín Fenoll would have to face off with the number one seed in the competition. The first set was marked by great equality on the scoreboard, which the Valencian player ended up winning. The second set was dominated by Martín, who scored 14-21, reaching the third set, where the dynamics changed again, but this time in favor of the player from the Xátiva Badminton Club, who clearly dominated the set to close it with 21 to 12 in his favor.
In the men’s doubles, Pablo Sanz and Martín Fenoll would go on to compete in the semifinals, after beating Álvaro Gómez and Ángel Torre by two sets, but they would lose in this round, by a tight 22-20 and 21-18, against the couple formed by Daniel Álvarex and Xoán Balboa.
The following players would also participate in this competition, playing a great role: Rubén Poblete, Vega López (Leganés), Guillermo González (Ciudad de Villalba), Claudia Santibañez (Chamartín) and Yue Fucha (Gredos San Diego).
