RUNNING GAME AND GOALS
With both teams falling down the tables, a close game was expected, but it ended up being busy and with many goals. The first was scored by Noroeste, with a shot from outside the area by Denner, which was missed by goalkeeper Diogo Silva. He tried to hold the ball high, but it touched his hands and went in after 10 minutes.
The game remained open and Ponte Preta equalized after 17 minutes. Lukinhas made a move on the left side and played the ball sideways for Cristiano’s first-time shot. He was on the penalty spot and left everything equal: 1 to 1. This was Ponte Preta’s first goal in the competition.
FAILURE AND TURN
Despite the equality, Ponte Preta’s defense continued to fail. The experienced David Braz tried to cross the ball in front of the area and Noroeste almost scored the second goal. Denner kicked, the ball hit the crossbar and Carlão shot for a great save by Diogo Silva, at 27.
But the turning point came at 33, in an individual play by full-back Pacheco. He received the ball on the corner of the area, moved it to his left leg and shot into the angle: 2 to 1. Noroeste left everything the same at 41. After a cross that came from the left side, center forward Carlão headed high and the ball ‘died’ in the angle.
SLOWER RESET
At the beginning of the second half, both teams still tried to attack, but little by little, they slowed down due to fatigue. Better organized, Noroeste still had greater control of the ball, but created few chances to finish.
Ponte Preta had a great chance at the feet of Cristiano, who passed the goalkeeper but, unbalanced, kicked the weak ball and it hit the post.

NOW THERE’S DERBY 213
In the sixth round, Ponte Preta will face rivals Guarani, in Dérbi 213, scheduled for the Brinco de Ouro stadium, next Saturday (31). Noroeste will host Velo Clube, in Bauru, on Sunday (February 1st).
