The federal police FBI is handling “physical evidence” from the scene where 37-year-old Alex Pretti was shot dead by federal agents in Minneapolis on Saturday, the head of the agency Kash Patel told Fox News.

It is above all about the 9mm semi-automatic pistol, which Pretti is said to have carried during the events leading up to the shooting. The FBI is checking fingerprints, DNA, shell casings and whether – and if so how many times – it may have been fired, writes BBC.

When asked what evidence there is that Pretti allegedly used the gun and threatened Border Patrol agents, or whether they saw the weapon before the 37-year-old was killed, Patel said:

– This is something that I leave to DHS and the prosecutors.

DHS is the US Department of Homeland Security.

The border police have not specified whether Pretti was actually holding the weapon. Pretti was holding a phone when he was shot to death by federal agents, according to video footage verified and analyzed by the New York Times.
