Perrine Laffont: French Olympic Athlete List Revealed

The 2018 Olympic moguls champion is one of the 52 athletes whose selection has been made official for the Milan-Cortina Games.

Fifty-two French athletes, including skier Perrine Laffont, were officially selected on Tuesday for the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics (February 6-22), according to a new list published by the CNOSF. Still injured in a knee a few days ago, the 2018 Olympic champion in moguls will be part of the French freestyle ski team which will compete at the Livigno site. She will be accompanied in particular among the men by Benjamin Cavet.

To get back on his feet, Laffont recently said he was considering resuming competition in the European Cup, in Megève this weekend. The Pyrenees returned to skiing two weeks ago and is currently training in Combloux. Expected to be major medal providers, the biathlon Blues are now complete: Jeanne Richard, Émilien Claude and Oscar Lombardot obtaining the last three remaining quotas, after a first selection of nine athletes in December.

In total, 12 biathletes – six men and six women – will travel to Anterselva, including headliners Lou Jeanmonnot, Julia Simon, Quentin Fillon-Maillet, Éric Perrot and Émilien Jacquelin. However, there will only be four bibs per gender for the individual events (individual, sprint, pursuit the first week and mass start at the end of the fortnight).

In skicross, Marielle Berger-Sabbatel and Youri Duplessis-Kergomard are on the shortlist and are likely to win French medals, as is the young Romain Allemand in snowboarding, after his victory in the slopestyle World Cup in Laax on Sunday. This second list completes a first, comprising 73 names, unveiled on December 23 by the CNOSF. A final list must be released on January 23 to know the entire French delegation, including in particular the names of the alpine skiers.
