Eibar Igerixan lived an intense and successful weekend with presence in two top-level competitive events, the Camargo Trophy and the … Technique Award held in Azpeitia, in addition to receiving news of enormous relevance for the club with the call of Paula Calvo by the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation.
Last Saturday the Camargo Trophy was held, where the federated team of the Eibar club had a very solid performance in both the women’s and men’s categories. In the women’s section, Paula Calvo, Naroa Osa and Itsaso Castrillo competed, while in the men’s section, Eibar Igerixan Jokin Oneka, Asier Gómez, Julen Canales, Anes Abderrahamne and Ander Izaguirre defended the colors.
Among the most notable results, as usual, the performance of Paula Calvo stood out, who won the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle events, also closing the championship in a creditable second position in the general classification. Ander Izaguirre achieved victory in the 50 freestyle, Jokin Oneka was second in the 200 breaststroke, Asier Gómez reached third place in the 200 freestyle and Anes Abderrahamne took the podium with a third place in the 50 freestyle. For his part, Itsaso Castrillo achieved a notable second position in the 200 freestyle, completing a very positive day for the Eibar team.
In recognition of her excellent performance and progression, Paula Calvo has been selected by the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation to participate in a national training session to be held in Madrid from February 1 to 7, an achievement of great value both individually and for Eibar Igerixan.
The activity continued on Sunday at the Azpeitia sports center with the celebration of the Technique Award, where Alazne Avellaned, Paule Martín, Xabat Limia, Paul del Río and Gorka Castrillo participated. On this day, Gorka Castrillo achieved a third position in the 200 freestyle, closing a very productive weekend for the club, which continues to confirm its good competitive moment and the constant growth of its quarry.
