The American Christian Post (CP) reported on the 26th (local time) that while the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks each won the conference championship and confirmed their advancement to Super Bowl LX, key players from both teams received attention by publicly confessing their faith by giving thanks to God immediately after the game. Patriots quarterback Drake May and Seahawks wide receiver Jackson Smith-Nzigba both gave credit for their victory to God in interviews and press conferences.
In the National Football League (NFL) AFC Championship, the Patriots advanced to the Super Bowl by defeating the Denver Broncos 10-7. In an interview conducted immediately after the game, May first confessed her faith by saying, “Thank you to the good Lord,” when asked how she felt about the team advancing to the Super Bowl. It was a statement that accepted victory in an important game as God’s guidance, not as a personal achievement.

Smith-Nzigba continued his confession of faith, adding, “I am grateful for all that God has allowed for this team, this city, and myself.” He repeated the same message at the official press conference held later. He said, “Whether I win, lose, or draw, I couldn’t get to this point without God,” emphasizing that faith is the center of life regardless of the result.
His comments, which consistently mentioned faith not only immediately after the game but also in official appearances, are in line with his comments that have continued throughout the season. In a press conference after defeating the Baltimore Ravens in a regular season game last December, May said, “I thank the Lord,” and said that his success as an athlete and his current position are connected to his faith. He said that good things happen in life when you stand firm in your faith.
Smith-Nzigba also continues to express his faith through his social media. His Even after defeating the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs last week, he gave glory to God with the expression “AGTGOD.”
