According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, cornerback Trevon Diggs has signed with the Green Bay Packers, one day after being released by the Dallas Cowboys.
Diggs, 27, is playing his sixth season in the NFL. He appeared in eight games for the Cowboys this season, totaling 25 tackles.
After his team’s victory over the Washington Commanders on Christmas Day, Diggs reportedly missed the flight back to Dallas after being denied permission to stay behind. Diggs is from nearby Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Since he was claimed off waivers, Green Bay inherited the remainder of the five-year, $97 million contract he signed in 2023, but since it no longer includes guaranteed money, the Packers could release him without any salary cap implications after this season.
Diggs appeared in 66 career games, recording 240 tackles and 20 interceptions, including two returned for touchdowns.
The Packers (9-6-1) are guaranteed to finish seventh in the Nationals. They will conclude their regular season on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings (8-8).
