The Miami Dolphins and Jeff Hafley have reached an agreement for the former Boston College head coach and Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator to become their head coach, the NFL said Monday.Associated Press a person aware of this decision.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract had not yet been finalized.
Hafley would replace Mike McDaniel, who was fired after posting an overall record of 35 wins and 33 losses in four seasons. The Dolphins also fired longtime general manager Chris Grier during the season.
Hafley, who spent two seasons in Green Bay, met with the Dolphins for a second interview Monday morning before being offered the job. He will join new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan in Miami.
Hafley, 46, left his position at Boston College in 2024 to become defensive coordinator at Green Bay, where he worked with Sullivan for the past two seasons.
Sullivan, former vice president of player personnel for the Packers, spent 22 seasons with the Wisconsin team before becoming general manager of the Dolphins.
