He Pachuca reported this Saturday that the Ecuadorian defender Andrés Micoltahas been left out of the tournament Closing 2026 due to a fracture he suffered in the kneecap of his right knee.
“In yesterday’s training, Andrés Micoltaafter hitting a ball, when supporting the right knee in a rotation movement, he experienced pain, which resulted in a fracture of the patella. The approximate time of incorporation will be four to five months depending on clinical evolution,” reported the doctor. Fernando Marquezdirector of the team’s medical services.
Pachuca will start its participation at the Closing 2026 on January 10 with a visit to the Guadalajara and will play the last date of the competition on April 25 against Pumas. The final phase of the tournament will start on May 2 and the final is scheduled for May 24, just enough time for Micolta’s recovery.
“The player was operated on by the doctor Marco Acunawho placed screws to fix the kneecap. Next Monday we will begin his rehabilitation,” the statement concluded.
Andrés Micolta arrived at Pachuca for the 2024 Clausura tournament and immediately became a fundamental piece of the team.
He collaborated in obtaining the Concacaf Champions Cup 2024, the derby of the Americas and the Challenger Cup.
In February of last year he tore his anterior cruciate ligament, also in his right knee, which left him out of Clausura 2025 and the team’s participation in the Club World Cup.
The man born in Esmeraldas started his career in Brazil’s fifth division with the Río Blanco and the Castlehe jumped into football in his country in 2022 at Nacional, a team with which he gained promotion to the first division and was later hired by Pachuca.
At the selection level he was part of those called for the Copa América 2024but lost continuity after the knee injury in 2025.
The new injury interrupts his attempt to return to earn a place in his national team again for the World Cup 2026.
