Luis Campos addressed many themes and in particular talked a lot about Luis Enrique and everything that the Spaniard has brought to PSG since his arrival in 2023. The Portuguese leader was also questioned about the growing place of artificial intelligence and big data in scouting, his specialty.
Asked about AI, Campos tells an incredible anecdote about Pacho
“I believe that technology will never surpass the human aspect, because our ability to feel remains stronger than all the data given to us, trust Campos. I love technology, but in the end, I have to feel, see, perceive, know… Often, this comes through the attitude of a player, through lunch, dinner, a walk, through listening to the player or understanding a gesture. »
And to better get his message across, Campos took a very interesting example, that of the recruitment of Willian Pacho in the summer of 2024. “When I first contacted him, he was in Ecuador and I told him: ‘I’m going to come there because I need to meet you and present the club project’. He replied to me: “Mr. Luis Campos, are you saying that PSG wants to recruit me? I’ll be in Madrid tomorrow! I arrive at 9 a.m..” Wow! I called Luis Enrique and told him: ‘This boy is going to give his all for us.’ His attitude showed me that I had found someone who was hungry. »
And Campos adds on the Ecuadorian rock: “I already knew him on the pitch, but he also made a very good impression on me. I left Paris for Madrid, we spent the day together and at the end, I said to myself: “He must come to PSG”. Shortly after meeting him, Luis Enrique was already talking to him about tactics, what he expected of him, what he had to do on the pitch… It was a magnificent moment. Pacho’s story defines our politics well. »
